Inzinierska vypoctova spolocnost Trnava, s.r.o. (Company for Engineering Calculations Trnava, Ltd)
is company performing core activity on the field of computational modelling of design basis
and beyond design basis accidents (including severe accidents with core melting) of nuclear
power plants (NPPs). Main computational tools used in the field of accident analysis are
RELAP5, MAAP4-VVER, CATHARE-ICARE and ASTEC codes. Examples of main activities are as follows:
- Participation in 5th Framework Programme (projects EVITA, IMPAM-VVER, VERSAFE);
- Participation in 6th and 7th Framework Programme (projects SARNET and SARNET2);
- Support analysis for the development of emergency operating procedures (EOPs)
and severe accident management guidelines (SAMG) for VVER-440/V213 NPPs
(J. Bohunice V1 and V2 NPPs, Mochovce 1&2 (Slovakia), Dukovany (Czech Republic)
and Paks (Hungary));
- Design of in-vessel corium retention concept via reactor cavity flooding
for VVER-440/V213 units (implemented in Bohunice V2 and Mochovce1&2 NPPs,
currently under implementation in Mochovce 3&4 and Paks NPP);
- Design of confinement hydrogen control system for J. Bohunice V2
and Mochovce 1&2 NPPs based on AREVA passive autocatalytic recombiners;
- Participation in the IAEA activities devoted to preparation of guidelines
for accident analysis of VVER's and PWR's, co-ordinated research projects,
benchmark activities, etc.;
- Bilateral co-operation with IRSN on ASTEC assessment (TMI-2, Super Moby Dick,
Patricia GV1 and GV2, plant applications (French PWR 900 and 1300 MWe));
- Participation in the OECD/NEA activities (Gamma TMI-2 Alternative Benchmark,
OECD-IAEA Paks Fuel Project);
- Support analysis for I&C modifications, power uprating, source term
estimation etc., for VVER-440/V213;
- Accident analyses for safety analysis reports for VVER-440/V213 NPPs;
- Independent review of accident analysis of safety analysis reports
for J. Bohunice V2 and Mochovce 1&2 NPPs;
- Development of plant analyser for J. Bohunice V2 NPP based on APROS code
(work done for Fortum, Finland).
